CAS 2021 paves the way in climate adaptation action
Today, on Earth Day 2021, the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management publishes a document that outlines how to move forward using the results of the international Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS) 2021, which the Netherlands hosted last January.
The CAS 2021 Reporting Out Document, now available for download, looks back at the online Summit and presents the many outcomes and deliverables that were brought forward throughout its 24-hours programme. The document summarises measures, mechanisms and instruments for the implementation, funding and monitoring of climate adaptation action.
Framework and roadmap
All outcomes and deliverables are part of the Adaptation Action Agenda, the operational framework and roadmap for action towards 2030. This Agenda covers thematic areas affecting the world’s economies, communities and populations, as well as the environment, and explicitly relates to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It pays specific attention to the acceleration of adaptation action in Africa and the role of youth.
The Adaptation Action Agenda will feed into decisive events later this year, including the United Nations General Assembly in September and COP26 in November.
